Clark secured the first place title in final Cedar Valley Little League action when it picked up one more win over the weekend, even though they dropped two. In Thursday's match, Indian House defeated J.L. Clark 6-4 when Indian In-dian House's Casey Dunn hit his first home run, bringing in an RBI. Craig Flanigan also doubled. Defensively, Curt Flanigan played a good game, according to coach Eric Clark, as well as Stewart Clarke who caught a key pop fly in center field. Casey Dunn and Craig Flanigan shared the mound for the winners. For J.L. Clark, Kurt Maxwell pitched and Jarom Tripp put in an jxcellent performance as :atcher. Matt Bybee led the winners. Overson Farm Center iefeated Grimshaw Drilling 3-1 when an massisted double play by irst baser Brennan Jones vith bases loaded ended lie inning. Friday night action was he result of a escheduled game which nded in a 4-0 win for ndian House over Irimshaw Drilling. Clark beat Overson Farm Center 11-6 11-6 with Kurt Maxwell on the mound and Jarom Tripp as catcher for J.L. Clark. Hitting for the winners was Matt Bybee with two triples on errors, a double by Paul Spencer and singles by Craig Clark and Kendall Bagley. Overson had doubles by Ryan Grimshaw and Brennan Jones and singles by Mike Shurts, Wade Johnson and Todd Johnson. Rickey Webster and Ryan Grimshaw alternated as pitcher and catcher. Saturday's action, the conclusion of the season, saw Overson Farm Center defeat J.L. Clark 9-3. Excitement started when the first batters from each team, Rodney Prindle of J.L. Clark and Mike Shurts of Overson's, hit home runs. Also hitting for Overson's was Todd Johnson with a double, and singles by Rickey Webster and Luke Pragle. Pragle also pitched and Webster was catcher. Todd Johnson was recognized for his recognized for his performance per-formance as short stop. Paul Spencer and new pitchers Matt Bybee and Jarom Tripp shared the mound for J.L. Clark. Besides the home run, Prindle also had a double and Craig Clark a triple. Coach Eric Clark commended com-mended the fielding improvements of the entire team. In the Grimshaw Drilling-Indian House match, Indian House won 4-2 when Casey Dunn pitched an excellent game for the winners. Dunn also doubled and Daniel Ryan played a good defensive game which included the grab of a fly ball at first base. Brent Carter pitched for Grimshaw. First baser John Allen, second baser Ryan Nelson, and short stop Terry Price were cited by coach Scott Grimshaw for fielding performance. Singles were hit by Shawn Barnson and -Brent Carter. |
