Show -, ' , ; ' 4 ."-'I ( n i 4 y -1 J 1 Mark E. Webster named as chairman Webster named education head CEDAR CITY - Mark E. Webster has been appointed chairman of the Southern Utah State College Department of Teacher Education. He will replace Phillip C. Carter who was recently appointed ' assistant vice president for academic programs at SUSC. As department chairman Webster will direct all student teacher placement. He will coordinate student teaching programs with public schools, recruit new teacher education candidates and work with the SUSC outreach program in teacher education. In addition, he will teach classes in educational psychology and interaction in the classroom-senior thesis. Webster, an assistant professor of education, received a bachelors degree from Brigham Young University in 1959 and the M.Ed, in school administration in 1965 from the Unah State University. He has also done graduate work at Northern Colorado University. Prior to joining the SUSC faculty in 1974 he was principal of Leonard Herman Intermediate School in San Jose, Calif. His professional experience includes serving as principal of J. D. Smith Junior High, Las Vegas; as assistant principal of Las Vegas High School; and as the curriculum coordinator for the Clark County School District. Following his graduation from BYU he taught English for six years at Cedar High School. The new SUSC department chairman has published several articles, most recently a teaching skill guide for the Utah Board of Education Skills Project titled "Promotion" ol Democratic Tasks, Values and Processes."- Webster is married to the former Janice Jones, Enoch. They are the parents of six children |
