Show Board discusses productivity CEDAR CITY - Ways to ' increase productivity in the Iron County School District were discussed at length during the School Board's regular meeting Tuesday. "Productivity is being emphasized throughout the entire County. Utah is' looking for every way possible to increase productivity in the state,'' said Superintendent Clair Morris. "We need to get the most bang out of every buck we can," added Morris, who presented the program to the Board to get their general feelings concerning it. Ways to increase productivity included providing courses for one credit which could be completed in one quarter or one semester. According to Morris, ( the rationale is that if ' college freshmen can : complete a five quarter hour course in one quarter, why can't serious minded high school students do the same quantity and quality of work in a quarter or a semester? Morris also added that for students who were not as motivated, the same courses that may be completed in a semester for faster moving students could be completed in the length of a year. The program also included financially rewarding teachers for having heavy teaching loads. In another part of the meeting, John Rowley presented a number of change orders on the Fiddlers Canyon Elementary School to the Board. One change was to substitute foreign pipe for domestic pipe which would save the Board $2,159. In other business, the Board commended Worth Grimshaw " for' the excellent work he did in preparing the school's audit. A motion unanimously passed to accept the audit as being accurate and correct. |
