MILFORD - The Milford Tigers dropped a close match to the Piute Thunderbirds 33-30 here last week in an excellent display of wrestling excitement. "There were some great matches," said Tiger coach Dave Sheffer. "Piute has some good wrestlers and we looked really good." Milford actually won more matches than Piute but they forfeited at several weights to lose the match. "At 33-30, you know the forfeits cost us again," explained Sheffer. "We're really looking forward to January." Looking at the individual matches, Ron King was the winner for Piute at 98 due to a forfeit. At 105, Scott Manhart of Milford lost a heartbreaker to Todd Smith by a 7-8 tally. At 112, it was that nemesis the forfeit again haunting Milford as Clayton Anderton was victorious for Piute. Troy Thompson won by the same method at 119 for Piute. Milford's Reagan Puffer pinned Jabe Huntsman for valuable points at 126 and the Tiger's Steve Kenross lost by a pin to Burke Nay "at 132. Milford's Matt Pearson was a big winner at 138, winning a 11-4 decision and Chuck Pearson, at 145, was also victorious, taking a close 10-9 bout |
