Show Weekend fires keep Cedarfighters busy The Cedar City Fire Department had its work cut out for it Saturday, according to Fire Chief David Bentley. At 9:25 a.m. the Fire Department responded to a call at the Interstate 15 rest stop, just south of Cedar City. According to Bentley, a truck-tractor was totally involved in flames by the time the department reached the scene. The truck belonged to F.D.D. Enterprises Inc. out of Phoenix Ariz, according to Bentley. The driver of the vehicle was Fred Cramp. ''Twenty men responded to the scene, and damages were estimated at $25,000," said Bently. The firemen returned to the station at approximately 10:30 a.m., and immediately got a call from Cedar City Police Sargent Dennis Anderson to assist in flagging traffic because a one ton-truck had gone off the road. Bently had to call in four additional men to bring the last man out of the canyon. He also added that the lire was caused by faulty insulation. Seventeen men responded to the call, and the fire was controlled in 15 minutes. Fire had broken out at the home of Allen Prisbrey, 914 North Tomahawk Road, in the wall located just above his fire place, said Bentley. "We had to cut the wall out," he said. |
