Show Parowan carnival bis success Parowan and the Parowan Chamber of Commerce seem to have pulled off a very nice event, and everyone involved is deserving of thanks and praise. The First Annual Parowan Chamber of Commerce Winter Carnival last week provided something lor everybody and much for the majority. Activites included two dances. Whatever age or temperament one happened to be, there was a beat just right for them. There was also plenty of refreshments at both shindigs. There were also movies for the kids and, of course, a visit from Santa Claus. Perhaps the highlight of the weekend was the gala festival in the student commons and mail halls of Parowan High School. It featured booths rented to clubs, individuals and businesses. There were home-made wares, antiques, handcrafted items, Christmas candy and cakes, cookies, canned goods, quilts and much more. The schools also particiated and should be thanked. There were essay Contests at the Parowan Elementary School and a tree decorating contest at PHS. In addition, the merchants got the spirit, dressing up their store fronts and decorating the trees on Main Street. The only disapointment was the postponement of the snowmobile races because of a lack of snow, something that couldn't be controlled. We hesitate to name names and specific individuals thatdeserve thanks, because invariably in an event of this proportion someone would be forgotten. Thus, we simply give kudos to all those involved, especially the officials of the Parowan Chamber of Commerce. " We look forward to the Second Annual Winter, Carnival next year. ' V |
