Show ' Letters to Santa are just as much a part of Christmas as tinsel and presents, as shown by this tyke, penning her thoughts and hoping that Santa is a careful and thoughtful reader. Children state wishes in letters to Santa 9 NORTH POLE Sometimes they are almost unreadable. Sometimes they contain crayoned pictures. Sometimes they have lists from mail order catalogues. They are always original, always innocent. They are letters to Santa Claus from children all over, addressed to the North Pole for the Jolly Old Elf, who loaned some to the Record for the enjoyment of its readers. Dolls, trucks and various other traditional toys, of course, are among the lists of the kids. But in the past few years they have been supplemented by the electronic wizardry of the age. Games now have video screens and red and green blips dotting back and forth. Trucks have flashing lights and computer sounds. But it's still Christmas, and a kid still has visions, not necessary of sugar plums, but of fun and Santa Claus and a special time. After all, even in the days of electronic wizardry and sophisticated toys, the joy of Christmas is especially sweet for children, who needn't force innocence and happiness. It all comes naturally to the little ones. |
