Show Fire Fighters have Busy Week until 10:40 p.m. to insure that the truck being used covering the fire did not catch on fire itself. Bentley cautioned residents to be careful installing in-stalling wood fire stoves and their chimneys saying that many people could lose their homes due to faulty installations. The Cedar City Fire Department was kept busy during the past week fighting several small fires. On Thursday, Jan. 10, 20 men responded to a lire in the ceiling at the Village Apartments located at 840 S. Main St. Fire Chief Bentley attributed the blaze to a 250 watt light bulb being used in a recessed light rated for a 150 watt bulb. He estimated the damage to be $100. On Friday, Jan. 11, another ceiling fire caused by the faulty installation of a single wall black stove pipe to a woodburning stove caused firemen to respond to a blaze at the home of James Bundrick at 325 South 900 West. Bentley estimated damage to be about $300 and said that the flame was quickly controlled by the 19 firemen on the alarm. At 7:55 p.m. on Sun. Jan. 13 firemen responded to a fire at the city landfill. Bentley said that only three men were on that run since the heavy equipment at the dump was used to push dirt over the blaze to smother it. He said that his men stayed |
