Show Ponguitcli nine Milford mat tourney Panguitch and Kanab traveled tra-veled over the MountainSat-urday MountainSat-urday to edge Milford and Parowan In the Milford tourney tour-ney and give local wrestling fans a preview of what the league wrestling will be like in 1981-82. The closeness of the team scores Is Indication of the tremendous improvement in wrestling as a high school sport in the last decade. The tourney boasted three state champions, and several veterans of last year's state championship. Panguitch garnered 134 points on 4 -firsts, 2-seconds, 2-seconds, 5 thirds and a fourth. Kanab with 129 points had, 3 -firsts, 3 -seconds, and 5 -thirds. Milford at 119 12 had 3 -firsts, 4 -seconds, a third and fourth. And Parowan Paro-wan grabbed 2 -firsts, 3 -seconds and 4-fourths. Panguitch picked up a second sec-ond and third in the 98 pound weight while forfeiting at 185. The returning state champs all won their matches, with Panguitch 's Kenmuir taking an easy victory vic-tory over Kanab's Weber at 138. B. Manhard pinned Crosby in the Unlimited class after moving up from 185 State Champ. Laney Johnson who holds titles at 155 and 167 found Kanab's Tait a little tougher at 185. After winning the title last spring in 20 seconds by pinning pin-ning Tait; he had to settle for a decision Saturday. |
