Show livcofoel; grazing simplified Responding to the Reagan Administration's goals to improve Federal Management Manage-ment of natural resources and simplify government regulations, the Department of the Interior is proposing several changes in the Bureau Bur-eau of Land Management's (BLM) regulations for managing man-aging livestock grazing use of the public lands. The proposed amendments include deletion of approximately approxi-mately 20 percent of the volume vol-ume of existing regulations. They also would provide an incentive for livestock operators oper-ators to contribute toward rangeland Improvement work and would streamline Bureau procedures for handling hand-ling unauthorized grazing use. The Department is soliciting solici-ting public comment on the proposed amendments, as well as recommendations on how it could strengthen and improve grazing regulations. regula-tions. Specifically, the proposed amendments would allow the BLM field personnel to allocate al-locate increased grazing use to permittees or lessees whose contributions result in increased forage production produc-tion permanently available for livestock use. The amendments would also provide a more effective effec-tive deterrent to unauthorized unauthor-ized grazing use by increasing increas-ing the amount the BLM may collect as settlement and by strengthening enforcement procedures. |
