Show iigoro pieb effd olass 1-fl voaoB oin ot BVB Tiger thinclads made their presence felt in the big time last Saturday at the BYU Invitational , capturing 5th place with 31 points, barely nipping North Sevier with 29-12, Kanab with 29, and Pangultch with 24, the only other 1-A teams in the top ten schools competing. Delta, with 90 points, won the meet, followed by Lehl 51; Lowry, Nev. and Millard tied at 32. Emery with 22 and San Juan, 21, were the other 2 -A schools in the top ten. Randy Kerr brought home the only first place in the 100 yard dash. He had times of 10.4 and 10.5 to win. Ken Jones was disqualified. Randy and Ken picked up more points in the 220 with Randy placing fourth and Ken, sixth. Randy had times of 24 and 24.1; Ken ran 24.1 and 24.3. Donald Livingston, Mil-ford's Mil-ford's premier 2-miler, had leg cramps, but finished 7th. Les Davis vaulted 11 feet. In the broad jump, Kerr took fourth with a 20'4" jump. Curtis Yardley jumped jump-ed 18'6". The 440 relay team of Randy, Curtis, Ken and Gary Mayer equaled the old state record of 45.6, which they broke last week at Snow Invitational. In-vitational. They placed third behind Delta and Millard. The Medley Relay clipped three seconds off their best time ran at Snow and came in third with a 3:50. Jones ran a 53 second 440 leg. This team of Mayer, Jones, Yardley and Dennis Myers are coming strong. Other Region Eight standouts stand-outs were: Kevin Bunting, Kanab, first in javelin, 2nd in long jump; Brian Griffin, Escalante, new state record in mile, 4:28.45; Dave Johnson, John-son, North Sevier, vaulted 13 feet, 1st place. Tuesday in the Region Eight meet, Randy picked up firsts in the broad jump, 100 yard dash, 220 yard dash, and ran one leg of the 440 yard relay. The Medley Relay team also picked up a 1st. Other results were not available at press time. |
