Milford's money has not been paid one third of the cost and it was felt that the State Historical Society should be contacted again and pressure exerted to get delivery. The annual meeting will be held in April. The group meets the third Thursday of each month. History officers elected Eighteen members were present to elect new officers to the Milford Historical Society recently. Enoch Swain was elected to lead the organization for the ensuing year. Red Wilson is the vice president, Janet Walker, secretary-treasurer, and Vickie Fotheringham, historian. The group is charged with completion of the historical park during the coming months. Bob Price related a story about the Minersville Reservoir Reser-voir dam. He asked if anyone any-one knew that a steam railroad rail-road engine was used to build the dam. He and Jim Smithson then related how a steam engine with a short track was used to haul material for the dam during construction. When the dam was completed, the engine was brought back to Milford by laying the short track down the road from the reservoir. They would lay track, move the engine forward, for-ward, then pick up the track and move it aroung the engine, en-gine, and continued that procedure pro-cedure until they arrived in Milford and the engine was back on Union Pacific tracks. Several members brought relics and antiques for the m embers to see. It was noted that the other monuments for the Domin-guez-Escalante marker were still not delivered. The company com-pany continues to promise delivery, but does not follow fol-low through. The one marker mark-er delivered was damaged |
