Show Maxey, MVMH Administrator, Adminis-trator, has tried to get a first baby contest going. It was through his diligent efforts that this was finally accom -plished. Last, but not least if the people of Milford, Beaver Bea-ver County or anywhere want merchants to sponsor this contest or other such activities, they should remember re-member to thank them, or at least mention it when they're in the store. It's very difficult to continue con-tinue being charitable, as businesses are constantly asked to be, in the face of criticism that they never do anything and lack of recognition by their customers cus-tomers when they do something. some-thing. "Red" Dear Red: We certainly enjoyed your coverage of the Beaver -Mil-ford ball game and certainly appreciated the picture of Steve on the front page. (ScEUD Feedback Would it be possible to get a copy of that picture. I am enclosing $1.00 to help defray de-fray costs. If is is more than that, let me know. Thank you. Mrs. Merrill Lowe Beaver, Utah Beaver County News: Sorry to have neglected sending this renewal before. We enjoy your editorials. Keep up the fight, we are with you. Sincerely, Uriah Jones Newcastle, Utah Dear Mr. Wilson: We appreciate the prompt attention given to our photo request on the Loffland Rig 5 shots which appeared in your newspaper Thursday, December 30, 1976. Enclosed are the negatives you loaned us. Again, many thanks for your help. Very truly yours, Eric L. Eppler a- " Dear Red: Please find my check for $10.00 enclosed and payable to Alden Johnson to help with costs of his Santa's outfit. It is a real pleasure to contribute con-tribute in some small way to the enjoyment the Milford children get from "Swede's" activities as Santa Claus. He is a great actor, I know from acting with him in some of Milford High's melodramas back in 1935 and 1936. It is nice to know he has changed chang-ed characters. In our last play he was a dope fiend, lone Sedgwick was his gun Moll and I was the detective. We won first place at Cedar C ity, even though there was some question as to the play being suitable for high school production. "Swede", as he was known to all, was our studentbody president and kept everyone happy and laughing. I don't think he or I set any scholastic scho-lastic records, but we sure had a good time as seniors at Milford High.., I am , real happy he can continue bring-ing bring-ing happiness to the citizenry citizen-ry of Mlford. J. Ray Baker Escondldo, Calif. Thanks Ray, I just this morning turned over $30.00 to Alden your $10.00 will ho aririeri. Tronic allv the Deo - last January 11, 1976. This was very special to them because be-cause their daughter was the first-born in Milford in the Bicentennial year. Out of all the merchants in Milford, only two recognized recog-nized this event and they were the Milford News office of-fice and Jeffersons. No offense to the Acklins but is it a matter of who you are? Enclosed is a check for an-others an-others year's subscription. I really enjoy readingtheMil-ford readingtheMil-ford News. Judy Gressman EDITOR'S NOTE: I always resent "is it a matter of who you are?" People who think that way either have a poor opinion of themselves, or an inferiority complex. Actually, most participants partici-pants made the decision to participate in the first baby contest before the baby was born and they even knew who the first baby would be. We regret that the Milford Mil-ford first baby contest has ' been -so slow in com ing about. The COUNTY NEWS attempted attempt-ed to get a first baby contest con-test started the first two or three years after the Wilson's Wil-son's tookover. Failingthat, we tried to recognize the new baby in our own way. The last few years, John pie who thought it was such a good idea and urged me to do something didn't contribute a dime. For those who did contribute, contri-bute, you have ours and, Santa's 'thank you'. If you intended to contribute i and didn't , Santa tells me that he has opened an account ac-count in the Milford State Bank under "Santa's fund", and any further contributions con-tributions can be deposited there. "Red" Dear Red, This letter is in regards to the first-born baby each year. I would like to congratulate congratu-late the Acklins on their new arrival and also to tell them how lucky they are to receive re-ceive so many nice gifts from the Merchants in Milford. This is a special event for any parent as it was for Charlv and Lorraine Holm |
