Show How much is a newspaper worth? The question has come to mind several times this week as the News staff has overcome breakdown break-down after breakdown in order or-der to bring this issue to you. Monday the Friden Just-owriter Just-owriter - the machine used to set the body copy including includ-ing this column - broke down. We attempted to fix it by hanging the telephone on one ear with a specialist special-ist in Salt Lake City on the other end, and a screw, driver and hammer in our hands. However, after about three hours of this it became obvious ob-vious that parts were needed, so our "better -half" found someone to watch the kids and we loaded up and hauled haul-ed it to Salt Lake City Monday Mon-day night. -0- After about a couple of hours of hard work and several sev-eral new parts, we headed back to Milford, arriving a few minutes before time to get up and go to work. -0- Everything progressed fairly well Tuesday, considering consid-ering the lack of sleep, until about 2:00 p.m. when the Justo writer again malfunctioned, mal-functioned, forcing the girls to make another manually operation on each line and considerably reducing production. pro-duction. -0- About this time the Inter -type went into a balk, requiring re-quiring tender loving care to coax it back into operation, opera-tion, further delaying the issue, and fraying the nerve edges. .0- The fact that you are reading read-ing this means of course that, in spite of all the obstacles, ob-stacles, we again succeeded succeed-ed in getting it in the Post Office. Only you the subscriber sub-scriber can tell if it was worth it. But wait! Before you answer an-swer my original question. I'm not at all sure I want to hear your answer. -0- After last week's snowstorm, snow-storm, it turned off so nice for the first ballgame on the new ball park, the old Redhead broke out his straw sombrero. Just to keep the wind from tangling the curls. The weather held over the weekend and a lot of 'good fellows' got a lot of good work done at the golf course. However, that ol' wind blew in a northern Tuesday and the straw fez was a bit cool. But a check of the calendar shows that April is well into its second week and it can't last. With luck, the Easter Bunny Bun-ny will leave ol' man winter win-ter behind when he spreads the eggs for area youngsters young-sters Saturday. -0- For those of you who are too old to hunt Easter Eggs, come on out to the Golf Course. You won't feel near as guilty hunting golf balls next fall if you spend a little time this spring making it all possible. -0- About twenty -five public spirited citizens did show up last weekend, digging the foundation for the club house, clearing the course of trash and debris, running dozers, loaders, earth movers, mov-ers, laying pipe, digging trenches, discing and a multitude mult-itude of other things necessary neces-sary before the first ball is hit off of the first tee. -0- Looks like Coach Andrus has got him a ball club this year. They managed to shake the first game jitters jit-ters Friday and beat Millard Mil-lard 7-6 in the bottom of the seventh. They weren't even scared in the second game. If they kept their feet on the ground at Delta Wednesday afternoon, they could be hard to beat the rest of the season. |
