Show BOZARTH HOME RAZED BY FIRE The William Bozarth home on North Main Street was razed by fire on Labor Day. Starting from a flue thru the ceiling, about 10 a. m. the fire consumed the roof, most of the ceiling, and a "false ceiling" constructed by a previous owner own-er of the residence. Considerable water damage resulted when firemen, unable to reach the source of the blaze because of the false ceiling ceil-ing and the almost impenetrable impen-etrable clouds of dense smoke poured water over the roof, through openings in the attic, and after a city ditch-digger was used to break an opening open-ing above the false ceiling, into the attic. Milford Volunteer Firemen fought the stubborn blaze for more than three hours, a great part of the time in heavy smoke clouds that drove spectators spec-tators back almost a block from the scene. After the ceiling was opened the firemen were able to direct enough water into the attic to quench the blaze, but by that time the roof, ceiling and false ceiling had been consumed by the flames. The house was covered by insurance, Mrs. Bozarth said, but there was no insurance on the furniture. Most of the furniture was removed by the volunteer firemen. |
