Show THIS WEEK IN MINERSVILLE By ALBATEEN ROBERTS -- Mr. and Mrs. (Jackie) Muir and children visited their parents last week, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Blackburn Black-burn here and Mr. and Mrs. Muir in Beaver. Jackie said she was indeed in-deed glad to be home again. She also told us of her desire to move to Salt Lake City to make her permanent per-manent home. Mrs. Jennie Marquardson has returned re-turned home after visiting relatives rela-tives in Las Vegas for the past few weeks. Mrs. Carol Bradshaw was glad to have her father visiting with her for awhile. Mr. Allman has been installing a furnace in the Max Carter home. The Allmans reside in Milford. The elders of Minersville ward held their get-together picnic Friday Fri-day night, enjoying their fun at Harold Baker's Riverside Nook. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pryor are remodeling their store so that they can increase their stock and have a more uptodate trading center. The Valley Builders are doing the job and soon will have it completed. A new furnace room at the rear of the building is all finished. Sunday School and Testimony Meeting was held here; Sunday beginning be-ginning at 10:30 o'clock, Superintendent Superin-tendent Thurman Eyre officiating at Sunday School. Dismissed for classes at 11:30, Testimony Meet-nounced Meet-nounced the open house for Mrs. ing was held, for which the building build-ing was filled, Bishop Marshall Hollingshead officiating. He announced an-nounced theopen house for Mrs. Paulina Carter and asked all to try and call on her during the day, and greet her on her 80th birthday. Babies were blessed as follows: Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Noel Wood, blessed by her father and given the name of Valory - Joy Wood; son of Mr. and Mrs. James David Edwards, blessed by Delbert Puffer of Beaver and given his father's fa-ther's name; the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Eyre, blessed by her father and given the name of Kay-lene; Kay-lene; the son of Mr. and Mrs. Noel Wood, blessed by Thurman Eyre and given the name of Kevin Noel Wood. Two, baptized earlier, were confirmed: Heber Gillins by Bishop Hollingshead and Carolyn Rebecca Thompson by Counselor Earl Limb. Many out-of-town folks were here for the birthday of our dear Sister Paulina Carter and attended Testimony Meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Jameson, son Allan, brother Bernard, brother broth-er Charles, and Virgene motored to Parowan early Monday morning to attend the Iron County Fair, wanting to be there for the parade. Mr. and Mrs. Byron Black and son Clark of Beaver spent Saturday Satur-day with us. Mrs. Black returned recently from Garden Grove, Calif., where she had been visiting her mother, Mrs. Annetta Banks, and other relatives for a month. Mr. and Mrs. Obra Myers are happy again to have with them for a few days their daughter Sally and her children. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Potter entertained enter-tained at their home last week a niece and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Starks, and three children. chil-dren. Mr. Starks is in the U. S. Air Force and was stationed in California Cali-fornia but is being transferred to a Michigan base. Mrs. Starks (Carol) is a granddaughter of Jennie Jen-nie Marquardson and a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Wright of Salt Lake City. She was the wife of the late Kay Banks, son of Blaine and Rose Banks, who was killed in an automobile accident a few years ago. Denzil King of Barling, Ark., a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo King, who has been employed by Moore Service since 1954 as manager, has been transferred to Twin Falls, Idaho, and he and his wife and children chil-dren arrived in Tooele August 28 to move to his new residence. Father Fa-ther and mother King met them in Tooele and enjoyed the trip with them, Ann coming home with them for an indefinite visit. Friday afternoon, af-ternoon, the Kings were visited by Mrs. Elsie Hadfield and sons of Grantsville, who were vacationing and calling on friends along the way. Miss Florence Wood tells us the last time she heard from her brother bro-ther and sister-in-law, Alfred and Geneva, was that they are fine and we are glad to hear this. They moved to Washington from here several years ago. An MIA social will be held Tuesday night at 8 o'clock in the ward chapel, Bishop Hollingshead announces. |
