Show Will Investigate Macrum's Charges. The house committee of foreign affairs has decided to investigate the allegation made by Charles E. Macrum, ex-consul to Pretoria, South Africa, re lative to the opening of his official mail by the British authorities. Representative Represen-tative Wheeler of Kentucky introduced i resolution to this end, which was referred to the committee on rules. After some consultation Chairman flitt on behalf of the foreign affairs committee, acreed to investigate the charges without the direction of the liouse if that would be satisfactory to Mr. Wheeler. Mr. Wheeler assented and has wired Mr. Macrum to come to Washington as soon as possible to appear before the committee. |
