Show NO CONFIDENCE IN JOUBERT. Now Deal by Which Steyn Becomes Commandant-General . The correspondent of the London Times at Lourenco Marques, telegraphing tele-graphing Tuesday, says: "It is reported re-ported from Pretoria that a scheme has been arranged for the amalgamation amalgama-tion of the Transvaal aud the Free State. Kruger will become president of the federal states, and Steyn be commandant-general of the Boer army. The flag will be the same as that of the Transvaal, with an additional Drange color. "Although this story is not confirmed, con-firmed, it is not improbable. It is a notorious fact that General Joubert has lost the confidence of the burghers 6imply because of the fact that he refused re-fused to shut his eyes to the inevitable result of the war. With all the burghers in the field it might not be llifficult to secure a formal indorsement indorse-ment of this rumored scheme." |
