Show Political fleetings. Politics have had possession of the city this week. Republicans started Monday with cannon firing and both bands playing, a rally being held at night, the speakers being Major F. A. Grant and U. S. Attorney C. 6. Whittemore; Whitte-more; a free dance followed. Tuesday was Democracy's day, both bands being out, and a rally being held in the evening at which the speakers were Hon. Thomas Marioneaux and Frank II. Holtzheimer. Wednesday night both parties held a debate, the Republican side being represented by Major Grant and C. O. Whittemore. the Democrats being ably championed by Hon. Thos. Marioneaux and Frank H. Holtzheimer. The Republican Re-publican platform and party were shown by its advocates to be the only correct thing, while the Democrats conclusively proved that they had the only safe platform for the future prosperity pros-perity of the American nation. The hall was crowded by an attentive and orderly audience, some of the visitors remarking favorably on the order observed. ob-served. A free dance was held in the Xew hall at the conclusion of the debate. The visitors left here Thursday morning morn-ing for Cedar City, where they intend holding meetings. |
