Show M. J. Miles To Speak At Second College Meeting M. J. Miles, director of the division di-vision of physical sciences at the college, and prominent in air training, will be the speaker at the second of a series of meetings held each Monday at the Dixie college. He will discuss, next Monday night at 8 o'clock, "Science "Sci-ence In the Modern War". The part that science plays in modern warfare is little understood under-stood by the average layman, who is thus unprepared to interpret the accounts of the progress of the war as given by the press and the radio. This lecture, therefore, will be of great practical value to the citizens of this community, state those who are responsible for the lecture series. H. L. Reid emphasized the fact that the problem of peace is greater than the problem of war, as he greeted a small audience last Monday evening. Although he did not overlook the extreme seriousness of the present conflict, he pointed out that the obtaining of a satisfactory satisfac-tory peace following the present turmoil will be one of the greatest great-est problems the world has ever faced. Mr. Reid pointed out the mistakes mis-takes ?f the peace following World War No. 1, particularly those made by our own country. Mr. Reid's lecture was followed by a discussion. |
