Show Lions Make Fine Progress On Sugar Loaf Road Fine progress is being made by the St. George Lions club members mem-bers on the Sugar Loaf road. The approach from' the west side has been widened and graded, the ditch moved back from four to 12 feet and drains installed to elminate washouts. This work is being done under the supervision of Irvin Milne, who is chairman of the committee, and Lee Owens, board director. Equipment has been furnished by the county and city with individuals indi-viduals and club paying the cost of the drivers. The club is especially es-pecially grateful for the assistance that they have received in the use of this equipment. Work will be continued on the entire road with both approaches to the Sugar Loaf being given attention. at-tention. This road is being graded and gravel has been hauled in and placed on the 'road in certain sections sec-tions that have always been rough. Two places are to be leveled and tables and stoves built. The lumber for the stoves is being cut and holes bored by the college. The material for the tables, which have the seats attached, will cost 57. At the present time money has been donated by John J. Phoenix Jr., Lions club, American Legion and a business group comprised com-prised of J. C. Penney, Sprouse-Reitz Sprouse-Reitz Co., Firmage's, O. K. Market, Mar-ket, O. P. Skaggs, Gamble's and Pickett's. It is pointed out that this will make two places close to town that will be available for picnics and similar entertainment. Those who have investigated the work that has been done and heard the plans for the rest, declare that the Lions are to be congratulated congratu-lated on this fine project. |
