Show TaYERKIN Pansy L. Hardy lie porter Mrs. Maggie Barnhurst and daughter, daugh-ter, of Hatch, and Mrs. Delma Dutton and sons of Cedar City were here visiting their mother, Mrs. Sarah A. Sanders last week. Mrs. Thora Daliey and two small daughters have gone to Brycc Canyon to visit with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Harris Merrill and children, Mrs. Ellis Stevens and children and Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Gifford and children, all of Las Vegas, were visitors in La-Verkin La-Verkin over last week. Word has been received by Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Gifford of the birth of a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Winferd Gifford in the Las Vegas hopsital. The baby is their grandchild and the father is stationed sta-tioned somewhere in the Atlantic with the U. S. Navy. The mother is the former Annabelle Eaves. Mr. and Mrs. Henry W. Gubler and daughter, Mrs. Rosalba Fuller spent Saturday, May 29, at Victor-ville, Victor-ville, Calif., where they attended the graduation of their son and brother, Donworth V. Gubler, from the bombardier class, 43-8, and his promotion to the rank of Second Sec-ond Lieutenant in the Army air corps. Lieut. Gubler accompanied them home for a ten-day furlough and will report for continued training at some flying field .in Arizona. Since his arrival his furlough fur-lough has been extended five days. . Mrs. Mary Riley and daughter, Miss Betty Lou Lcavitt of Mes-quite, Mes-quite, were visitors last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Hardy. Speakers at Sacrament meeting Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Gubler. Special music number was a girl's chorus directed by Mrs. Thora Gubler. News has been received here that Shirley Hinton, injured in last week's car wreck has regained re-gained consciousness. Isabel Dodge and Miss Hill of Idaho are here visiting Mr. and Mrs. Wickley Gubler. Robert Stock is working at the Mt. Trumbull saw mill. Mrs. Stock accompanied him to Mt. Trumbull to spend the week. Mrs. Ruth Stevens and children of Mt. Carmel are here visiting her sister, Mrs. Orin Hepvvorth. Mr. and Mrs. Dwain Hepworth and Mark Jennings accompanied Wickley Gubler to Mt. Trumbull last week where they will be employed em-ployed at his saw mill, which is again operating. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Gubler and daughter, Mrs. Elko Orton have gone to Spanish Fork to get another daughter, Ila, who has been attending school there the past winter. Palmer Asay, who has spent the past year in northern Utah defense work is home on a visit. Mr.' and Mrs; Wayne Wilson spent the past week in northern Utah fishing and vacationing. Mr. and Mrs. Harley Leavitt and son of Mesquite, were Sunday Sun-day visitors here. James Harris is home on furlough fur-lough visiting his wife and other relatives. Mrs. Parley Leavitt and sons, George and Roy of Mesquite, are visiting at the home of her daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Leonard Hardy. Fawn and Lyman Gubler, who were in last Thursday's car wreck are greatly improved and able to be around among their friends. Mr. and Mrs. Brigham Hardy, Mr. and Mrs. James Harris and Leonard Hardy were St. George visitors last week. The nursing class being conducted con-ducted .by Mary Gray is reported making good advancement. Many new members are being addedi I and many visitors attend the weekly classes. Mr. and Mrs. Terry Eaves are here visiting Mr. Eaves on furlough fur-lough from this Navy. Farewell In Ward Hall A farewell party was given in the LaVerkin ward hall June 1st, for Jack Eaves, who was scheduled sched-uled to report at Fort Douglas for Army induction June 3rd. The program included tap dancing by Afton Wilson, accompanied by Quinta Neilson; vocal solos, by Lieut. Donworth Gubler; humorous humor-ous items by Bishop Lorin D. Squire; accordian solo, Clarence Sanders; reading, Mrs. John A. Judd; chorus by a group of girls accompanied by Mrs. Thora Gubler; Gub-ler; and remarks by the guest of honor. Due to a car accident, which happened in St. George a few minutes before the scheduled departure de-parture of the bus on which he was to travel. Jack was unable to leave. He is still in the McGregor hospital at St. George, having sustained a broken clolar bone, but is reported improving. |
