Show Fishing Season Opening Holds Limelight As Anglers Plan Jaunts More Fish Planted This Year In County Than Any Other Previous Year With the catching of fish having a real meaning as an addition to the family larder this year, Washington Wash-ington county fishermen are awaiting await-ing the opening of the fishing season on Saturday, June 12th. Many have been saving up on their gas so that there would be no question on that end as the opening date approached. v' Indications are, declare fish and game officials, that the fishing should be good this year. More legal size fish are reported to have been planted in the fishing waters of the county than at any tiOie in previous years. Enterprise Enter-prise reservoir, in particular, is expected to live up to its past reputation SlS the best fishing spot in the state. Clair Terry, secretary of the fish and game association, reports that Vernon Leavitt has been catching the fish that have been left stranded in Rock Canyon Creek and has taken them down and released them in the reservoir. These fish are said to have measured meas-ured up to 20 inches and are in fine condition. From other indications in-dications this reservoir should produce some of the best catches made by fishermen this year. On the other hand, a considerable consider-able number of fish have been released in Pine Valley Creek at various places so that these waters should produce some good fishing too. Legal size fish were also planted on the east side of Pine Valley mountain, but past experience has proven that the creeks on the east side do not live up to those on the other side. Fishing in Sand Cove has not proved very satisfactory to date, although there are plenty of good sized bass there. The trouble seems to lie in the fact that with the cleaning of the canal and all of the food disturbed going down into the reservoir, the bass have had plenty to eat and have not been interested in that offered by fishermen. This condition may clear up later in the season and the Cove may produce some good fishing. |
