The group of boys included Guy re m Jolley, Merlin Sullivan, Stewart Alien and Hall Sullivan of Leeds; and Clive Burgess and Dennis th Atkin from St. George. All but wuiting Dennis Atkin had calves, which it office they had fattened under the 4-H friendly, projects, and Dennis had two ter will porkers which copped two of the ntiatioi three blue ribbons given at the ery in- stock show for prime hogs. This ivy- was a great experience for the boys and the returns should spur 1 other boys to prepare for securing secur-ing some of the money available on these projects, ' Guy Jolley's calf was listed in the utility group, bringing him 26c per lb. for 790 lbs., totaling $205.40. His total cost for feeding feed-ing and labor was figured at $114.37, leaving him a net profit of $91.03. Merlin Sullivan had one calf listed among the sifted which weighed 764 lbs. and sold for 19fcc per lb., totaling $147.07. His total expense was $111.11, which gave him a net profit of $36.96. His second calf, weighing j 980 lbs. was listed as commercial in the medium group and at 25 c U per lb. brought him $252.35. His " cost of feeding and labor totaled I $127.32, which gave him a profit ) .... of $125.03. U Sells At 20 V4c Per Pound ' Stewart Allen had a calf weigh- U ing 759 lbs. which sold at 20c f pen lb., bringing $153.70, and de- ducting his cost of $98.68 left him J" , a profit of $55.02. His calf was listed in the sifted group. Hal Sullivan's calf also in the sifted group weighed 764 lbs., r and at 2014 c per lb. brought him ' J154.71, showng a profit of $52.80, t fter deducting $101.91 for costs. y The calf taken in by Clive Burgess was listed as commercial i in the medium group, and weighed ' 800 lbs., bringing him 25c per lb., 4 over the auction block, which with ) his production cost of $107.24, left him a profit of $92.76. ) Dennis Atkin took two pure bred Duroc Jersey porkers, one S9 weighing 204 lbs. and the other 233 lbs. Both were rated prime, 9 'be highest rating given and both were awarded -blue ribbons, being two of the three pure bred Durocs y 'n the show making this rating. .Dennis also entered in the showmanship show-manship contest winning second Place. Pork was not bringing a fancy Price comparable with the beef t stock, but at 18 YiC per lb. the 1 one weighing 204 lbs. brought him ,f $37.23. Deducting growing costs, t this left him a profit of $7.43, or $12.55 allowing the payment for his labor, which was included as ' $5.12 of the production cost. Weighs 233 Pounds The other pig weighing 233 lbs.
