Show Relief Societies Hold Season's Closing Socials The East ward Relief Society held their season closing social on the evening of June 1st. Members with their partners enjoyed a swim from 9 to 10 p. m., at the Municipal pool, followed by a program pro-gram and social on the lawns of the Bishop Wilford Schmutz home. Music, singing, readings, a report re-port of the year's work, and the serving of refreshments provided excellent entertainment until 11 p. m. Lunch was served to 76 women and men of the ward. The Center ward held their closing program Tuesday afternoon, after-noon, June 8, in the basement of the stake Tabernacle. . Numbers on the program included: A vocal trio, patriotic number, by Carolyn, Rachel and Ila Marie Lytle, three small daughters of Mr. and Mrs. George P. Lytle; reading, Shirley Harper Schmutz; vocal duet, "I'll Take You Home Again Kathleen", Melba Baker and Lucy Esplin; a clever humorous skit, "Hats for Utility", Valrea Hafen, Esther Judd and Erma Hafen. This number num-ber brought galores of laughter. Reports of pioneer Pelief Society So-ciety meetings were given by Juanita Brooks, followed by reminiscences rem-iniscences by older members who attended early-day meetings. Mrs. Byron H. Taylor and Mrs. Bill Baker were chairmen in charge of the program and the refreshments served after the program pro-gram were in charge of Mrs. H. C. Cottam, Mrs. Vivian Leany and Mrs. Milton E. Moody. Following the serving of refreshments. Mrs. Donald Schmutz. Relief Society president, thanked a 1 1 officers, teachers and members for their loyal support and outlined the summer frui't canning projects. |
