Miss Maurine Whipple has already made this section famous with her book, the "Giant Joshua". Mr. Lauritzen recently returned from the writer's conference at Boulder, Colo., where he went on the suggestion of Miss Whipple. At the conference his manuscript of 50 pages of "Arrows Into the Sun", was Dsed as a model by Hudson Strode in his lectures. Mr. Strode is famous for his books, "Finland Forever", "South By Thunderbird", and others. As a consequence of Mr. Strode's enthusiastic en-thusiastic sponsorship of Mr. Laur-itzen's Laur-itzen's work, two large publishing houses obtained telegraphic offers from their companies, one of which Mr. Lauritzen reports he accepted. After a two-week's sojourn in the Navajo country with his wife, Mr. Lauritzen reports that he expects ex-pects to go to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Ala-bama, where Mr. Strode is professor pro-fessor of Shakespeare and is coaching a distinguished group of young novelists. Mr. Strode is said to have had much success with this group that Lippincott Co., has awarded a prize each year of $1,000 to the member doing do-ing the best work for that year in this group of 12. Mr. Lauritzen Laurit-zen has been invited to join this group of 12 and expects to be with them for about six months, or until his novel is completed. |
