Show Betrothal of Miss Mary Lou Wells Told Here Thursday Evening, Aug. 30. The betrothal of Miss Mary Lou Wells, daughter Mrs. Louie Wool-ley Wool-ley Wells of Logandale, to Ray Schmutz, son of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Schmutz of this city, was charmingly told last Thursday evening eve-ning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Schmutz, when a dozen girl friends met as guests of Miss Fawn Schmutz and Mrs. Von B. Cottam. ' Refreshments were served at one long table at 8 p. m., the heavy lace cover centered with a large bowl of summer , flowers. Place cards were dainty hand-made brides bearing each guest's name in gilt lettering on the hem line of pink organdy skirts, each bride outfit out-fit complete with a flowing veil of embroidered tulle. Pink princess prin-cess tapers in silver candle sticks furnished lighting. Under each favor was a verse which told the legend of the betrothal, be-trothal, the concluding verse being be-ing reserved for Miss Wells, whose favor had concealed her engagement engage-ment ring, and which had been kept a secret until the moment, except to the two hostesses. Miss Wells has made her home in St. George for the past several sev-eral years while attending Dixie junior college and has been prominent prom-inent in vocal and instrumental music and dramatic work of the college and local church auxiliaries. aux-iliaries. Since graduating from the college she has had local employment, employ-ment, being at present stenographer stenograph-er of Southern Utah Power company. com-pany. Mr. Schmutz has graduated from the B. Y. U., since graduating graduat-ing from the Dixie junior college and is also an accomplished musician. mu-sician. The date of their marriage has not been definitely set but will be in the St. George Temple in late autumn or early winter. |
