Show NEWS OF THE COUNTY SEAT Mrs. R. C. Knell arrived last Thursday from Newcastle to visit with her daughters, Mrs. Joseph T. Atkin Jr., and Mrs. Nettie K. Morris. Mrs. Atkin complimented her mother with an informal home social Monday afternoon, with friends and relatives invited. Miss Alta Mae Neilson entertained enter-tained eight girl friends at a dinner din-ner party at her home Saturday evening, the guests including Elaine Graff and Agnes Gubler of Santa Clara. Mrs. Owen Hall and baby boy have returned to their home. JJ. J Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Nelson and baby returned Sunday to their home in Sacramento, Calif., after visiting the past three weeks with relatives and friends in St. George and vicinity. Side trips during their stay have included in-cluded a week end in Panguitch with Dr. and Mrs. Wyatt W. Miles, where they were . accompanied accom-panied by Mr. Nelson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Nelson; a brief trip to Logan, Salt Lake and Provo, and other visits in Washington Wash-ington county, being guests part of the time while here of Mrs. Nelson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Fawcett. Hostess to the Bridge Ettes Wednesday was Mrs. Carl Hutch-ings, Hutch-ings, with Mrs. Grant Whitehead winning high honors, and Mrs. Robert Rob-ert Pickett second. Lunch was served to twelve. Mrs. Don Carlos Schmutz of Provo, visited with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Cannon over the week end. Miss Doris Atkin was a Sunday and Monday visitor from Cedar City. Mrs. George Y. Jarvis and three children of Washington, D. C, and her mother, Mrs. Oscar Kirkham of Salt Lake City, arrived Wednesday Wed-nesday evening for an extended stay in St. George. Mrs. Rulon Pectol entertained the Easy Aces at her home Wednesday Wed-nesday evening, honors at Bridge being shared by Mrs. James An-drus, An-drus, Mrs. Duke Sutton and Mrs. Virgil Snow. Lunch was served to 16. Defense Stamps were given score winners. Mrs. Louis L. Fitcher arrived last Saturday from Los Angeles to visit over the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Pectol. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Empey and little daughter, Patsy Lynn, of Salt Lake City were guests over the week end of their mother, Mrs. Kate B. Empey. S Monte Swapp of Hatch underwent under-went a tonsilectomy at the hospital, hos-pital, Feb. 20th. Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Schmutz left Tuesday morning for Mt. Pleasant, Texas, where Mr. Schmutz has been transferred in connection with his employment in the reclamation service. -V. She was joined here last Friday by her daughter, Mrs. Joseph McArthur, of Wasco, Calif. Clarence Snow was host Tuesday Tues-day evening at an informal house party to members of the Center ward Explorers, and their committeemen, com-mitteemen, Charles Merkley and Irvin Milne. Graff and two small daughters, Sylvia and Shirley, motored down from Can-nonville Can-nonville Friday to visit their daughter, Betty Lou, who is attending at-tending the Dixie junior college. They returned home on Sunday. Betty will leave for home Friday due to her mother's ill health. Mrs. Gene Palfreyman and small son, Clark, came down from Springville Friday to attend the marriage of Mrs. Palfreyman's sister, Miss Gene Higbee to Mel-vin Mel-vin Hirschi. She plans to remain two weeks to visit with her mother, Mrs. Eva C. Higbee. La-mond La-mond Higbee of Cedar City, brother of the bride, was also here for the wedding. ..!. Mrs. Larkin Smith arrived Sunday Sun-day from the Coast for an extended ex-tended visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Asay. Miss Elaine Hafen came down from Salt Lake City, where she is teaching, early Saturday to visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Hafen. Accompanying her was Miss Joyce Welker who visited with friends. They returned re-turned Monday evening. D. C. Watson Jr., left Tuesday noon for Provo, where he will resume re-sume his studies at the B. Y. U., after his recent trip to the Coast. Mrs. Ann R. Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Phil Spencer Spen-cer motored up from Huntington Park, Calif., last Saturday bringing bring-ing with them Mrs. Spencer's mother, Mrs. Leland Hafen, who has been visiting them for the past ten days. Mr. Spencer returned re-turned to the Coast Sunday, Mrs. Spencer remaining here. A group of friends of Miss Betty Graff entertained at a dinner party Tuesday evening in her honor, prior to her departure this week end for her home in Can-nonville. Can-nonville. Tom Sevy and his sister, Mae Sevy, motored down from Richfield Rich-field Saturday to visit St. George relatives, returning Sunday, accompanied ac-companied by Mrs. Sevy, the former Donna Lou Morris, who had been visiting two weeks with her mother, Nettie K. Morris. Complimenting Annette Hammond Ham-mond Pearce, bride-elect of Anthony An-thony Foremaster, the Three-W club of which she is a member, staged a miscellaneous shower Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. Annie W. Webb. Club members mem-bers and relatives of the bridal couple made up the 20 guests. Rook was the diversion, followed by lunch. Week end visitors in St. George from Salt Lake City and Logan, were Miss La Vera McArthur, Miss Lela Sullivan and Miss Joey Covington, Cov-ington, who visited with their respective res-pective parents, Mr. and Mrs. James McArthur, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Sullivan and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Covington.
