Show Dixie College To Present Annual Band Concert In Tabernacle Wednesday The Dixie college band will combine com-bine the patriotic motive with that of entertainment at the annual band concert to be given in the Tabernacle next Wednesday evening eve-ning at 8:15. Not only will patriotic patri-otic numbers be featured, but the money taken in from the concert will be used to buy Defense Bonds. The final group of the concert will include a Flag pantomime prepared with the cooperatidh of the American Legion. Grant Cot-tarn Cot-tarn will introduce the patriotic group with a reading. Directing the musical will be Earl J. Bleak, assisted by Norman J. Hunt, with William Wayne Prince as business manager. Full band numbers will include: "Stars and Stripes Forever," by Sousa; "In the Mystic Land of Egypt", by Ketelby; "Nibelungen" by Wagner; Wagner, arranged by Frangkiser; "A Real American", (Continued on page five) t Dixie Band Concert (Continued from first page) by Bowers; "American Rhapsody" by Long; and "Star-Spangled Banner", by Key. Ensemble numbers include a reed and woodwind number, "La-Gondoliera", "La-Gondoliera", by Zamecnik; and a trumpet trio, "Trumpeters Three" by Johnson, played by Bob In-score, In-score, John Miller and Bill Swapp. Wayne Prince will play the baritone bari-tone s,olo, "King Carnival", by Kryl; and Garth Tietjen will play the saxophone number, "The Sax Prince", by Chenette. Jay Huntsman, Bob Inscore, Le-Moin Le-Moin Lamb, K. D. Williams, John miller, Kent Wintch, Bruce, Decker, Deck-er, Clem Allen and Alpine Shirts will be vocalists as a part of the selection, "A Real American". The Dixie college band is a local institution of which the citizens may well be proud. The band and its director will appreciate a good attendance. |
