Show Cancer Drive Is National In Scope; Sponsored By Federated Clubs The Cancer drive is a national project sponsored by the federated feder-ated clubs, each year in April. All clubs are asked to contribute. In a letter from Dr. Thomas Parran, Surgeon-General of the United States Public Health Service, Serv-ice, to the Field Army, he said: "It is my earnest hope that no smallest gain - along the public health front be lost in our patriotic patri-otic response to the demands of total war. Total war demands that every man and woman dc more, not less. This means that aia must not let down in our service to humanity, but rnust make greater sacrifices, find more time for emergency service. The Field Army Against Cancer is one of our advance guards. We look to it to hold the line." In a proclamation of Governor Herbert B. Maw, he said: "Saving lives from cancer is a vital part of preparedness. Cancer control is an imporant measure to protect the health and morals of the mature men and women who must stand behind the front line defenders of our country. Cancer usually strikes those in the age groups over forty who in moments of crisis, when young people are called to the colors, are particularly particu-larly essential in industry and in organizing and leading civilian life." In order to carry our message of hope to the people of our state it is necessary to create a fund; the establishment of which is entirely en-tirely dependent on contributions. We solicit your help in this program.- Please send donations to the treasurer. An acknowledgement acknowledge-ment of your assistance and our appreciation with a membership card will be promptly mailed to you. |
