Show Municipal Power Turned On Here Wednesday Mayor Watson's Home 1st To Receive Current In First Official Trial The Municipal Power plant began to do its stuff in reality Wednesday Wed-nesday with more than two dozen homes being serviced from the diesel units. Mayor D. C. Watson admits his willingness to let the operators turn the juice on in his home for the tryouts, so this was the first home lighted by the new plant, with others following during the day. This marks the beginning and the take-over will . go right along in harmony with the plans outlined, says the Mayor. Answering some questions being be-ing raised, Mayor Watson states that the City purchased for an agreed sum the distribution lines and meters now in use, from the Southern Utah Power company, and it will merely require the switching over to the new lines of supply. In this connection the city has been duly advised that all those who have deposits with the Southern Utah Power company will be refunded when their bills are paid to that company, and such renters will in turn deposit with the city, which plan will offer of-fer no problem. Every man, woman and child in the city is owner to the extent of nearly $100 per capita in the Municipal Plant, states Mayor Watson, and will duly benefit in the plant's operations. The Municipal Mu-nicipal Plant is here to stay and serve the people, and the work of connecting with the homes will go forward as rapidly as possible. |
