Show Heaton Bros. Make Fine Record In Basketball Boys who won recognition for themselves and their Dixie school in years past have been swinging to new glories in Reno's basketball basket-ball season according to newspapers news-papers just received from that area. Starring with Reno's M Men are the three Heaton brothers, broth-ers, Garn, Keith and Volma, and "Zug" Bennett, who made four of the five to win the All-town team tourney recently. The other team mate was Willie Beko. After running up high scores for their team in the M Men tournament the quintet staged a game with Hawthorne Knights of Pythias, March 21st, winning 36 to 28 in a hard-fought battle, says the Reno paper, and finishing the game with only four players. Taking Tak-ing in their, sweep the United States Marines, John's Bar, Sparks and finally the Hawthorne team, with Garn Heaton, captain, walked off with the 1942 Andy Milich revolving re-volving trophy and plenty of commendation com-mendation from press and sports leaders, who followed the play by with keen interest. It seems this is a rather unusualy event to have the M Men tangle with the other teams, but apparently the tournament aroused plenty of in-trest in-trest in Reno. |
