DeLoy Gyman arrived last Thursday from Camp Roberts to visit his wife and son in Hurricane Hurri-cane for a week. Also visiting in Hurricane is Pfc. Kenneth Stout, who is a guest of his sisters, Mrs. Vinetta "Wright and Mrs. "Wealthy Hey-wood. Hey-wood. He was stationed at Kingman, King-man, Ariz., where he graduated recently and received his wings as gunner with the Army air forces. Fa fa Ra Iteturns To Training Base Paul Thompson, Slc returned this (Thursday) morning to Great Lakes Naval training station after a -week's leave in St. George with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George E. Thompson. He completed his 11 weeks of boot training at Great Lakes last week. Fa fa Pa Returns To Nebraska Field Pvt. John W. (Billie) Bring-hurst Bring-hurst took the early Tuesday bus back to camp after visiting a week in St. George with his mother, Mrs. Nellie W. Bring-hurst. Bring-hurst. He is located at Fremont Field, Neb., and says everything is going okeh for him there. Fa fa fa Tlome From Overseas Lester Blake S 1c, arrived early Wednesday from more than one year's overseas service with the U. S. Navy. He has been in on much that has been happening in the Pacific area and says he is glad of a chance to come home for even the 21 day leave while his ship is undergoing repairs. He entered the service in June, 1943 and was assigned to a ship soon after completing his boot training. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Royal Blake of St. George, and his brother, Ben is serving somewhere in England. On his way home he stopped over in Cedar City and brought his sister Mrs. Ralph Loper and two children child-ren home with him for a visit. fa fa fa Pvt D. Jones Home Pvt. Donald Jones was in St. George Monday visiting his brother, broth-er, Angus Jones and has spent several days in Gunlock visiting relatives before returning to Camp Cooke where he is stationed with the U. S. Infantry. He has been in the service 18 months and has trained in Texas and Louisiana before transfering to Camp Cooke. He wears the medals for rifle, sharp-shooting and carbine and figures he is about ready to go across. fa fa fa Pvt. Stapley Leaves for Camp Pvt. Woodrow Stapley left on Wednesday morning for Glade-water, Glade-water, Texas, after a ten-day furlough fur-lough with his wife and two children in Toquerville. From Texas, he will report to Camp Meade, Md., to continue h i s training. Pfc. N. Snow "W rites A pleasant letter came last week from Pfc. Nelson Snow, son of Mrs. Jetta Snow, formerly of St. George. Nelson is now attending attend-ing S. C. U. in Portland, Ore., under un-der a military assignment. He writes that he and Mrs. Snow are enjoying their 'stay in Portland are meeting many former for-mer friends there, among them the former Clara Woodhouse, who will be remembered as one time piano teacher at Dixie junior college. col-lege. Just recently he got hold of a copy of the News which he says he must have regularly hereafter. Fa fa fa Pvt. W. Whitebwid "V isits Here Pvt. Frank "Wayne Whitehead visited in St. George two days recently re-cently enroute to his new location at Camp Grant, 111. His brother, Pfc. Howard Whitehead was here from California. Mrs. Whitehead and their son are making their home here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Whitehead for the duration. |
