Show All Four Local Wards Begin M. I. A. Activities All four St. George wards began their year's M. I. A. program on Tuesday evening with large groups attending. Miss Autumn Festival introduced the officers for the year in each ward, and the officers offi-cers responded, outlining the programs pro-grams in the various departments. This was followed by a dance and refreshments for all four wards in the Recreation hall. In the East ward the program included a mixed quartet by Arthur Ar-thur Kemp, Howard Starr, Mrs. Starr and Mrs. Clyde McQuaid; chorus by the second year Bee Hive girls, and a stunt by Don Leavitt and his dancing doll, "Peter Spraynozzle". The Center ward presented a piano solo by Miss Beverly Moody; a skit, "The Courting", directed by Mrs. Pauline Christen, with Eldon and Harold Hafen, Irma Woodbury and Sherlene Snow; and a reading, Flora Brooks. A special feature of the West ward program was the announcement announce-ment of the first book to be given before the special interest group. This will be, "Blessed Are the Meek", by Zofia Kossak, and is a historical novel of St. Francis of Assassi and Sir Geanne Brienne against the background of the Crusades. This challenging story will be given by Mrs. John J. Phoenix Jr., Tuesday, Sept. 19. |
