Show HURRICANE Mrs. Thomas Ilinton (AUNT MINA) Reporter Mrs. Edgar Gibson, Mrs. Don Gibson, the former Afton Wilson, and Mrs. Allie Wilson received Mother's Day greetings from Cpl. Don Gibson in Germany, by cablegram. cable-gram. The message came late, but was appreciated. FO Derald A. Slack and Mrs. Slack, the former Bettie Lou Stevens, are here from Tonapah, Nevada. He is on a short leave. Ensign Clark Ballard reports back to Richmond, Calif., this week. Metta Wood Tweedie has gone to Las Vegas to meet her husband, hus-band, Slc Wilden Tweedie, who is coming home on leave from San Diego. Mrs. Frank Lee received a letter let-ter from Mrs. Reuben Maloney in Richmond, Calif., Sunday telling tell-ing her that Mrs. Raymond Maloney, Ma-loney, who resides in Albuquerque had received a cablegram from her husband, Raymond Maloney, telling her he will be home soon. He is, in India. This is the second cablegram from him in the last week. He has been missing since November, 1943. TSgt. Calvin Ballard is home on a 30-day furlough from the European theatre. He has gone with his father, Harvey Ballard to their ranch up on Smith's to enjoy some real old-fashioned work. PhM 2c and Mrs. Merle Lem-mon Lem-mon spent 10 days home on leave from Providence, R. I. While here he received orders to be ready to leave Providence May 18 for Portsmouth, Va., to attend a school for three months to receive training in a medical school. His wife will remain here with her parents. Cpl. and Mrs. DeLance Squire are home on a ten-day furlough from Camp McCook, Neb. He expects to be sent overseas soon. WT3C Milton Hall, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lafayette Hall is home from the Pacific on a 30-day leave. He took part in the invasion in-vasion of Iwo Jima. His brother, Cpl. Ferrel Hall has been in the Aleutians for 21 months. Another brother, Slc Ersel Hall, while in Siapan, met his cousin Orlo Hall and had a good visit with him. Ersel has been in the Philippines Phi-lippines for 8 months. Senator and Mrs. Claud Hirschi, Mayor and Mrs. Chauncey Sand-berg Sand-berg and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Wilson attended the Goodwill meeting held in Enterprise by the Enterprise Chamber of Commerce last Friday night. Mr. and Mrs. Glen M. Webb and daughter, Dorothy have gone to Salt Lake City to spend the summer. Paul Thurston and F e n t o n Whitney took the scouts and Vanguards to Lake Meade for an I outing Thursday and came back Saturday. Lena Hall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J .Harvey Hall left Monday for Ogden where she has employment employ-ment for the summer with her uncle's family, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Crosby. Owen Hall of Hyrum is here auditing the books for Hei ry Scholzen and visiting with friends. Paul H. Gates attended the funeral services of Pres. Heber J. Grant in Salt Lake City on Friday. School closed just in time for all the young folks to help with the strawberry picking. Mr. and Mrs. Ianthus Spend-love Spend-love announce the marriage of their daughter, Grace to James Garth Barton of Cedar City. Bishop White performed the ceremony cere-mony in his home in Las Vegas on Saturday, May 19. Mrs. Ina Inilay and Mrs. Edna Spendlove entertained a large crowd of friends at the City park Tuesday evening honoring Mrs. Hulda Murphy and family, who are going to Provo to spend the summer. Mrs. Robert Shamo and Mrs. Lawrence Stout have gone to Woodruff, Arizona to visit with relatives. Their husbands are in the armed services. Mrs. Annie Wright returned home Saturday from the Iron county hospital where she spent two weeks for medical treatment. Andrew J. Isom of Provo was a business visitor in town last week. The stake party sponsored by the North ward Elders Quorum last Tuesday evening was a grand success. There were 147 present. The supper consisted of a weiner roast and the trimmings. Mrs. AI Tietjen, the former Anice Roundy and two children spent the week visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joel Roundy. Roun-dy. They operate a trading post at Gallup, N. M. This is their first visit home in six years. Fred Slack is here from Cedar City helping until they can get another man to take over the work of the Southern Ulah Power Co. Marion Bowler Is being inducted in-ducted inlo the army. Mr. and Mrs. William Slandley have moved back here from Salem and intend lo make their home here. Mrs. Newel FraziT was taken lo the Iron county hospital Monday Mon-day for an appendectomy. Mr. and Mrs. Gernsie Ntnitton have gone to Kingman, Ulah lo take Mrs. SI rat ton's mother home. She has spent the winter here with them. Mrs. Hannah Pike and Mrs. Lydia Rawson of Los Angeles are here visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Dean Clark and family. Mrs. Gwen B. Hirschi. Mrs. Roma If. Littlefield and Miss Delma Ballard are visiting for two weeks with friends and relatives rela-tives in Salt Lake City. Helen Stanworth has gone to Ogden to find work. Hal Stout and Jake Williams have gone to Basic, Nevada to find employment. |
