Show Elementary Reports Its Students Own $961.70 In Defense Stamps-Bonds Still forging steadily forward with their purchase of Defense Stamps and Bonds, the children of the Elementary school chalked up a total of S961.70 this week, according ac-cording to their Tuesday report. This is a gain of SS8.61 over the S873.09 of last week and represents repre-sents a per capita of close to S2.00 for the 533 children enrolled, although al-though the actual listing shows that only 386 of the 533 boys and girls atcually are purchasers or owners of these bonds. Setting their next week's goal for well over $1,000.00 the children child-ren are watching closely the bulletin bulle-tin board, which indicates the total stamps and bonds owned in each room and the number of children in each room are included. includ-ed. The line-up this week shows Miss Emmaline Lemmon's first grade, $94.40; Miss Fay Stirling's first grade, $27.00; Miss Imlay's second grade, $42.35; Mrs. Pitch-forth's Pitch-forth's second grade, $46.40; Mrs. Bradford's third grade, $60.70; Miss Linda Larson's third grade, $58.35; Miss Pace's fourth grade, $40.30; Miss Foremaster's fourth grade, $80.00; Mr. Graff's fifth grade, $69.30; Miss Seggmiller's fifth grade, $91.00; Mr. Stucki's sixth grade, $134.25; Mr. Cannon's Can-non's sixth grade, $89.80; Mr. Neil-son's Neil-son's sixth grade, $134.85; totaling total-ing $960.70. Purchasers and owners own-ers in the respective groups are listed as 27, 19, 41, 26, 30, 20, 31, 36, 24, 24, 32, 35 and 41, totaling to-taling 386, a gain of 18 over those of last week. The enthusiasm with which the children visit the post office, the desk of Principal Vernon Worthen and other sources of supply indicate indi-cate their actual interest in and understanding of what they are doing. It is felt that parents are cooperating wholeheartedly and the teachers are hopeful that before be-fore the close of the year, every child will be able to begin this type of savings account and by so doing contribute to the present pres-ent emergency as well as learn the lesson of thrift. |
