Show Capacity Crowd Attends Scout Banquet Fathers and Sons Display True Fellowship In Their Annual Banquet Just one plate short of 500 was the official count of the Father-Son Father-Son banquet held in the Woodward Wood-ward gymnasium Thursday night. This was an increase of 15 per cent over the previous year. Many were unable to obtain tickets the last few hours before the banquet due to the fact that no more could be cared for. The West ward Relief Society and Primary served, and the organizations were taxed to capacity to care for the reservations that were made up to Thursday noon. Fellowship Equalled The high standard of fellowship of fathers with their sons equalled that of previous years, and an excellent ex-cellent program was enjoyed. Snow and son, Walter, and by Ralph Huntsman and son. Jay. Music numbers were presented pre-sented by the Boys' club of the college and by the Dixie chapter of the Future Farmers. Vocal solos were given by Kent Hansen and Duane Gentry; Bob Inscore gave a trumpet solo, and Garth Tiecjen a saxophone solo. Enlivening the occasion was the community singing led by Royden Braithwaite and the club songs of the Rotary, the Lions, the American Ameri-can Legion, the F. F. A. and the Boys' club. Vernon Worthen was master of ceremonies and did the job in an excellent fashion. The banquet was sponsored by the district Scouting committee, with all civic clubs and organizations organiza-tions giving. 100 per cent cooperation. cooper-ation. W. W. McArthur was the general chairman, with Pres. Glenn E. Snow as assistant chairman. chair-man. Others Assist In Program Assisting these men were: B. Glen Smith, program; W. C. Cox, banquet; Donald Schmutz and V. J. Frei, publicity and ticket sale; Leo G. Smith and the Scout troops, physical arrangements; Arthur Ar-thur Cottam and George T. Thompson, decorations; the Vesta club, with Nettie Gardner, president, presi-dent, matrons; and the college home economics girls, directed by Ann Robinson, servers. The committee in charge wishes to thank all who cooperated in making the banquet a success. Besides those mentioned, there were numerous West ward members mem-bers who furnished food without cost, various business houses who furnished equipment and utensils, and many homes who furnished equipment, utensils and flowers. Proceeds, frorn the banquet will go to the West ward chapel fund and to the local Scout troops. |
