Show Mrs. Wayne H. Robertson and small son of Overton, spent Tuesday Tues-day in St. George visiting her parents, Dr. and Mrs. P. E. Harris Har-ris and sister, Patricia. The N. E. B. Pinochle club were entertained last Thursday evening eve-ning at the home of Mrs. Don Judd. Lunch was served to eight. Honors for the evening went to Mrs. Gerald Blake and Mrs. Ted Beacham. Mr. and Mrs. Frehner and Mrs. Frank Barrow of Littlefield were visiting and transacting business in St. George Tuesday. Laura Gentry, Mrs. John Perkins Per-kins and Mrs. Roy Johnson, all of Overton were visiting relatives and friends in St. George Monday Mon-day and Tuesday. .?(. '(- nr Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mortensen and family of Parowan were recent re-cent visitors at the heme of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Carpenter, parents par-ents of Mrs. Mortensen, who with her daughter, Marline, remained for the week, returning home last Saturday. Pvt. Therol L. McArthur, who is located at Las Vegas training camp spent the week end here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Val McArthur and his wife and baby, who have been guests of the McArthurs for ten days." Mrs. F. R. Bentley of Enterprise Enter-prise and J. L. Bleak of Los Angeles An-geles arrived Wednesday to visit their mother, Mrs. Alice Bleak, and other relatives and attend the memorial services for their nephew, Lieut. Wesley Blake Empey. Mrs. Mary E. Orton returned Monday from Las Vegas to visit with her children. Her son, M. P. Harold Orton arrived Tuesday from Camp San Luis Obispo to spend a short furlough, part of which he is spending in LaVerkin with his wife, the former Elko Gubler and baby. J- .V. if 'if 'a' Sgt. Marion Snow, state patrolman patrol-man was in St. George over Monday Mon-day and Tuesday visiting his mother, Mrs. M. M. Snow and other relatives. Edward Thompson, age seven, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carlyle Thompson suffered severe injuries to his left hand Wednesday evening eve-ning while playing with a giant cap, which had been given him by a playmate, who also gave him matches. The explosion of the cap took off part of the boy's thumb and the first two fingers on the left hand, and inflicted in-flicted lacerations on his face, neck and shoulders. Pfc. Rex Bilby Adams and wife arrived Wednesday evening from Memphis, Tenn., where they have spent the past three months, Mr. Adams in X-ray military training. During his furlough they will visit here and in Hurricane. -?,; 'a' Relatives in St. George have been advised that Ensign Dean Boyack was visiting recently in Fillmore with Mrs. Boyack, the former Virginia Moody of St. George, who is teaching school there, and their small son, Allan. After returning to New Orleans he was dispatched overseas. -M. TV -A- "A- Mrs. D. C. Watson and Mrs. Lee Weibel returned Tuesday evening eve-ning from a short business and visiting trip to Salt Lake City. Pvt. DeWayne Gentry arrived i Wednesday evening from Camp Roberts for a 21-day recuperative leave, having been hospitalized for the past several weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Verl Chapman of Daggett, spent the week end here visiting their two small children, who are with relatives for the winter, while their parents are on defense jobs. Mrs. Lee Tannland, the former Annie Graff, left Wednesday for Lincoln. Neb., where she will join her husband and daughter, after spending six weeks here with her mother. Mrs. Julia Graff, and sister, Mrs. Howard Judd. Mrs. Rodney Burgess underwent surgery at the local hospital on Jan. 31. The East ward M. I. A. presented pre-sented a special music program last Tuesday evening, including the life and compositions of Beethoven, Bee-thoven, Mrs. Reed Fuller presenting present-ing the script, with Dick Miles, Bobby Morris and Ila Holt giving numbers. Another program will be presented Feb. 15, featuring the life and compositions of Tsehaikowski, ' with Mrs. Orval Hafen reading the script. C. C. Wilcox of the Big Hand cafe has been advised that his son, who is attending school in Ogden has been promoted to the rank of Cadet Lieut. Colonel with the R. O. T. C. He is also president presi-dent of the Ogden high school ski club. Frank Shelley, executive secretary secre-tary of the State Farm Bureaus, Tracy Welling, chairman of the State Board of Agriculture, Donald Don-ald Bergens, commissioner of agriculture, agri-culture, Major George Henderson, livestock specialist of the U.S.A.C. Extension Service, Victor Ras-mussen, Ras-mussen, State Department of Agriculture Ag-riculture Seed specialist, met with a small group of Washington county farmers Wednesday to discuss dis-cuss organizing a chapter of the ation. Mrs. Glenn Quigley and sister-in-law, Mrs. Rodney Burgess returned re-turned Friday from spending the week in Salt Lake City on business, busi-ness, and Mrs. Quigley visiting her husband. She is teaching in the Woodward high home economics eco-nomics department. Hyrum Atkin began employment employ-ment Tuesday evening as clerk at the Liberty hotel. Mr. and Mrs. B. G. Milne returned re-turned Monday from Los Angeles where they spent several days with Mr. and Mrs. Stinson Ward, due to Mr. Ward's serious illness. They were called home on account of the death of their niece, Goldie Marie Harris. The Misses Bertha and Anna Neilson arrived last Friday from Los Angeles, where they have been on defense employment for several months, and will spend the week here with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. John T. Neilson and other family members. They were accompanied by a friend, Russell Kerr, who is also remaining for the week. -v. ."; .(.
