Show Dixie College News Que Eraushaw. a former Dixie student who has just returned from the northwestern states mission, mis-sion, was a college visitor last Friday. He greeted the students by giving a vocal solo in assembly. as-sembly. Que left Tuesday of this week for Fort Douglas, where he w.-.s scheduled to take his examination examin-ation to enter training as an aviation cadet. D. J. C. Ralph Huntsman, chairman of the Fine Arts Festival committee, commit-tee, is communicating with various vari-ous centers in the state, asking that art exhibits be sent to the Festival to be held here on Feb. 24 to 26. Mr. Huntsman is op-tomistic op-tomistic that the exhibit of paintings paint-ings this year will be on a par with those of previous years. Other features of the Festival will be the Britt String and Piano Trio of New York City, the college play, "The Green Vine", and a concert under the direction of the college music department, including a short patriotic operetta. op-eretta. D. J. C. The Scholarship bond drive at the college is receiving enthusiastic enthusi-astic response from the students. Already an additional $100 bond has been purchased, with a start on another. The classes are competing to reach a $350 quota by the end of the quarter. So far, the seniors are setting the pace. Boys' Day has been set for Mar. 3rd. The Boys club, with Darrel Hafen as chairman, are planning an outstanding program for this day. D.J.C. "Future Business Leaders of (St. George", is the name selected by the commerce club at the Dixie college. This name was chosen last week, when the club was organized and officers named. Joyce Larson is the president; Walter Snow, vice president; Mary Wintch, secretary-treasurer; and Ruby Piatt, reporter. D. J. C. The music composer, Debussy, was the topic for discussion and entertainment at the meeting of the Dixie College Faculty Women's Wo-men's club last Thursday evening. Mrs. Pauline Christensen discussed dis-cussed his life. Some of his music I was played by Mrs. Irene Everett, Miss Renee Lund and Paul Thompson. Thomp-son. Hostesses for the evening were Mrs. Janice Merrill and Mrs. Margaret Merkley. D. J.C. The Lambda Delta Sigma club is planning a Valentine party for Feb. 14. D.J.C. Donald Truman and Imogene Holt are in charge of a program of the Omega Delta club tonight. The Alpha Theta club is planning plan-ning an installation for the near future. New members for the club are now being considered. D. J. C. Elna Gardiner was in charge of a program of modern music at a meeting of the Delta Phi Alpha club Monday night. Mrs. Ivan Davies and baby boy are here visiting her mother, Mrs. Rosena Blake. Mr. and Mrs. Webster Adair of Glendale are spending the week in St. George visiting at the home of their aunt, Mrs. Charlotte V. Atkin and doing Temple work. |
