Show Dixie College Hews Thirty boys turned out to the first basketball drill for the Dixie ' high school Monday night. Coach Lee Hafen is confronted with the task of immediately cutting the .squad down to a workable size, as most of the other teams of the district have already gotten down to real practice. The prospects of a good team are strong, according to Coach Hafen. He has back a number of lettcrmen from last year and there is some good timber from the Woodward. D. J. C. College basketball is not unlikely un-likely this year, states Coach Watts. There are a few boys in school who can play, and it is likely that some new material will be available at the start of the winter quarter. Coach Walts has no announce- ment at this time as to the type of schedule that can be arranged, but if the team materializes he hopes to give the boys some good ; games. j . D. J. C j Date for the community ora-: ora-: toi'io, "The Nativity", has been set for Dec. 19th, states Jos. W. ! McAllister, who is directing. The college chorus has been practicing on the oratorio numbers num-bers for several weeks, and special spe-cial rehearsals for townspeople are being held each Monday, Wednesday Wed-nesday and Saturday evening at 7 o'clock in the college auditorium. Mr. McAllister is desirous that more townspeople come out to the rehearsals. He states that the music is beautiful and challenging and that if all will participate, the oratorio can become a worthwhile worth-while community project. D. J. C. A meeting of the Southern Utah Teachers' association was held in the Liberty hotel last Saturday. H. L. Reid is vice president of the organization. |
