Show Dixie Hi Swamps Richfield To Win 6-Man Title Game Called In Third Quarter As Dixie Romps To Easy Victory Coach Stanley Watts' six-man football team won the undisputed championship of the State of Utah in this sport when they trampled over a touted Richfield squad last Wednesday afternoon. The final score was 61-12. The boys from Richfield never had a chance. The Flyers pulled a "sleeper" play immediately after receiving the kick-off. Darrel Hafen made a long pass to Russell Rus-sell Neilson, who was unobserved by any of the Richfield players, and Russell went over standing up. Donald Lund kicked the extra points, and the score was 8-0. Only a moment later, Darrell threw another pass to Norman Hafen for a second touchdown, and Richfiel dnever recovered. Coach Watts substituted freely, with the game ending in the third quarter. The visitors showed power only at the beginning of the second half, when they scored a touchdown touch-down against the regulars. The other score was against the subs. Richfield had previously downed Alterrah high, Uintah champions, in a game played at Richfield. The Sevier boys had been undefeated in their own league play. This is the second championship champion-ship for the Flyers. Their first was won five years ago under Jay Tolman, the first year for six-Iman six-Iman football in Utah. The championship was well-deserved. Coach Watts has developed de-veloped a real team that has played consistent ball all season. Following the game the local boys and the visitors were entertained enter-tained at an informal banquet in the Science building. The sophomore sopho-more girls were the hostesses. The visitors were also guests at a special assembly the morning morn-ing of the game. |
