Show Cpl. John Roebuck Has Varied Experiences As A Fighting U. S. Marine Visiting Monday with Dr. and Mrs. P. E. Harris was their nephew, Cpl. John Roebuck, son of Mrs. Myrtle Frehner of Little-field, Little-field, Ariz. Cpl. Roebuck is with the U. S. Marines and is home on a 36-day furlough while recuperating recuper-ating from malaria fever, which attacked him while overseas. He has had hospitalization in Australia, Aus-tralia, New Zealand and on the U. S. coast. More than two years ago Cpl. Roebuck joined the Marines and his duties in this branch of U. S. military service have really taken him places. He was on active duty for more than two months on Guadalcanal and has a pocketful pocket-ful of thrilling stories of those hectic days. Day after day under constant combat with the enemy, he was one of the few who never received a scratch in the way of wounds, and figures it was tough luck to take on the malaria after being immune to bullets. |
