Slack Reporter Friday evening, June 25, Mrs. Lois Iverson and Miss Pauline Dodge entertained at a miscellaneous shower for Miss Thelma Olds at the home of Miss Olds' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Olds. The evening was spent in playing games, after which lunch was served to 35 guests. Special guests included: Mrs. Myrtle Bauer, Mrs. Ida Hallman, Mrs. O'Dean Olds, Mrs. Lois Olds, Mrs. Mildred Maxwell Max-well and Miss Elaine Olds, all of Cedar City and Miss Doris DeMille De-Mille of Rockville. Monday evening, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Beatty entertained at a reception re-ception in the recreation hall in honor of their son and his wife, Pvt. and Mrs. Thomas Quentin Beatty. A short program was given consisting of a reading by Mrs. Avery Bringhurst; trumpet solo, George Slack; reading, Mrs. Rhea Wakeling; duet, Mr. and Mrs. H. Grant Terry. The remainder re-mainder of the evening was spent in dancing and serving of lunch. Mr. and Mrs. Riley Slack and children, Steve and Sandra of Los Angeles are visiting this week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Slack. Mrs. Reta Morris returned home Sunday from Cedar City, where she has been receiving medical attention. at-tention. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Fish are at the Kaibab saw mill this week. Mrs. Jennie Lamb and daughter, Blanch, returned home Saturday from Salt Lake City, where Blanch has been attending summer sum-mer school. Miss Corris Jackson left Wednesday Wed-nesday for Salt Lake City after spending the past 4 days at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arch Bringhurst. Mr. and Mrs. H. Grant Terry of Fillmore and, Mrs. Hilma Bate-man Bate-man of Idaho left for their respective re-spective homes after spending the week at the home of their parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Beatty. Miss Phyllis Naegle left Wednesday Wed-nesday for California, where she will report at Mare Island, July 6 for service as a war nurse. For the past six months, she has been stationed at Hill Field, awaiting her appointment for overseas duty. |
