Show Leeds CCC Camp Honor Day, a phase of the Camp Leeds educational program, was recently featured under the direction direc-tion of the Camp Educational committee. It has been the purpose pur-pose on such occasions to award outstanding service performed in the camp as well as on the job for the previous quarter. At the recent program the following fol-lowing awards were presented: Educational certificate to Paul Williams, indicating the successful success-ful completion of 144 hours of class work; 117 unit certificates indicating the successful completion com-pletion of a unit of class work for the past quarter; one presentation pre-sentation from the safety department depart-ment to Sam Leigh for his efficient ef-ficient and prompt action in handling hand-ling his buddy, who was bitten by a rattle snake; and lastly, 28 badges were presented to the senior scouting unit of this company, com-pany, 17 Tenderfoot badges, 4 Second Class badges, 4 First Class badges, two Merit badges and one Star badge. Totaling 146 awards during the evening's program. pro-gram. Also participating in the program pro-gram were: Lieut. John S. Shipley, Ship-ley, commanding officer; Lieutenant Lieuten-ant Heister, junior officer; Dr. Walter Whalend, camp surgeon; Silas A. Bushman, educational adviser; Ross Rozell, foreman; Max Peterson, camp engineer; B. Glen Smith, scout commissioner; Heber Thompson, assistant commissioner; com-missioner; Lloyd McArthur, chairman chair-man district court of honor, and Mr. Heaton, of St. George. Official word has reached this camp to the effect that a 40-man crew will be furnished by this company for the purpose of constructing con-structing a CCC camp at Hurricane. Hur-ricane. The work, to be started in the near future, will be under the direction of Lieutenant Usnick, of the Zion Park CCC camp. Company 585 will also furnish a 50-man crew to the Pinto Spike camp about October 1. Men assigned as-signed to this sub-camp will work in the neighborhood of Enterprise. Enter-prise. Supt. Tom M. Young, accompanying accom-panying regional officials, has recently re-cently returned from a six-day tour of conservation CCC camps as follows: Mt. Pleasant and its side camps at Nebo and Gooseberry; Goose-berry; Willard with its side camps at Morgan and Willard Mountain; Grand Junction with its side camp at Delores Colorado; Price camp and the Monticello camp with its side camps at LaSall and Indian Springs. |
