Raymond Mercola, youngest member of the Byrd Expedition to the Antarctic, was the speaker at the Wednesday assembly. Mr. Mercola comes as the first number num-ber on the college lyceum course. Under the title, "Adventure of an Ocean Vagabond", the adventurer adven-turer gave an interesting account of his experiences with Byrd. The college is not selling a regular lyceum this winter, but patrons of the school are invited to attend the programs given. The Friday assembly is under the direction of the student body commissioners of amusements. The Delta Psi Omega, dramatic fraternity, held its first meeting Wednesday. General plans for the year were laid. Prospective members mem-bers of the club were reviewed. It is expected that about 15 new members will enroll. To be voted into the organization each student stu-dent must show high dramatic ability, with experience at the Dixie college. Only upper division students are eligible. The meeting was called by Roma Snow, president. |
