The West Ward association will present, for their M.I.A. program cm the night of April 19, the illustrated illus-trated lecture on Mormon Temple building given by Pres. H. S. Snow with Miss Florence Foremaster handling the slides. To the original lecture has recently been added the slides from pictures taken at the St. George Temple during the recent work donation days of the three local wards. Those who have seen them, say they are of much added interest. They were shown first on the Tuesday evening following fol-lowing the general conference at the assembly hall in Salt Lake City to several hundred people, who had met for the church security secur-ity session and created much favorable comment. They depict the accomplishments possible in a return to the early church methods of cooperation in public activities. The West ward M.I.A. will show these slides in the recreation hall of the Elementary school building and invite the public to attend. Mr. and Mrs. George H. Lytle and their son, George and wife motored to Hinckley last Saturday Satur-day evening to attend the funeral services Sunday for Mrs. Daisy Dutson, mother of the younger Mrs. Lytle. They returned Sunday Sun-day evening. Mr. Fred Riding entertained 12 women friends at her home last Thursday evening at a pot luck party. Rook was played following the luncheon. Thomas Pratt, who is here attending at-tending the Dixie college spent Sunday in Hinckley visiting with relatives. ? Accompanied by her father, George H. Sixty friends of Mrs. Rogers Hardy, from Hurricane, La Verkin Cedar City, Washington and ' St. George, met at the basement of the Tabernacle on the evening of March 7 to join in giving Mr. Hardy a surprise birthday anniversary anni-versary party. Games and dancing furnished the entertainment. Mr. Hardy received many gifts of remembrancer re-membrancer Refreshments were served. Sixteen neighbors and friends met impromptu at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Burgess Friday Fri-day evening to honor her with a birthday anniversary surprise party. Guests took refreshments, which were served following a program pro-gram of games. Twenty-three members of the Dixie Camp, D.U.P. met at the home of Mrs. Amber Schmutz on the afternoon of April 11, with Mrs. Sarah Jacobson and Mrs. Orilla Hafen as co-hostesses. Following Fol-lowing group singing Mrs. Ella J. Seegmiller reviewed the life of Mrs. Henrietta Adams Morris of this city, covering her years of activity as a presiding officer of the Relief Society and as a home florist. Mrs. George T. Thompson gave the lesson on Indian In-dian women of the west, offsetting her memoranda with an exhibit of the basketry and other handwork of the native women. Drake of Enterprise Enter-prise is spending the week visiting visit-ing at the home of Mrs. LaVerne DeSwan. Mrs. Drake has spent the winter in Salt Lake and she visited with an elder sister, Mrs. Martha M. Home at Richfield for a week on her way to St. George. Mrs. Philena Pickett left Saturday Satur-day to spend several days visiting visit-ing at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alvin Hall, in Hurricane. Mrs J M. Christensen of Salina is here to visit for two weeks at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Pectol. & Mrs. Geneva Jones was hostess Wednesday to members of the Frendship club. Members of the Dixie Culture club met at the home of Mrs. Delia Fordham for their weekly session Friday. Mr. and Mrs. James Bundy returned re-turned last week-end from Salt Lake City, where they went to attend conference and to meet their son James Jr., who has just returned from a two year mission to the Southern states. Peterson of Logan were here last week-end to visit with relatives, they were guests of Mrs. Pearl Cobb. Mrs. Adelia Burroughs of Hatch, Utah is here for a short visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel J. Barnhurst. J. Wynn Sanders, son Jack, and daughter, Betty Rose, arrived Saturday Sat-urday evening from San Francisco for a brief visit. Jarvis, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. Jarvis Jr., has received re-ceived a fellowship to the University Univer-sity of Wisconsin for 1938-39. He is at present attending the B.Y.U. from which he will graduate this spring. Miss Dorothy McArthur, daughter daugh-ter of Mrs. Mary McArthur of this city, underwent an appendectomy appendec-tomy at the hopital April 8. The Los Amigos club held their regular session at the banquet room of the Arrowhead hotel Monday Mon-day evening, with Mrs. John Pace, Mrs. J. J. Milne, Mrs. Marion Snow and Mrs. D. 'C. Watson as hostesses. Lunch was served to 45 members and guests, the latter including in-cluding Mr. and Mrs. J. Wyn Sanders of San Francisco, Mrs. LaPrele Snow, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Newsom of Conoco Service and Wm. Smith, state inspector. Winners Win-ners in 500 were Mrs. Joseph McArthur and Dr. L. W. McGregor. Announcements have been received re-ceived here of the marriage of Miss Georgiana Roberts, daughter of the late B. H. and Cecelia Dibble Dib-ble Roberts of Centerville, Utah, to Joseph Franklin Livingstone of Steamboat Springs, Colo., on April 2. Miss Roberts will be remembered remember-ed by many for her excellent work as a school teacher of Washington Wash-ington county several years ago. She taught the final two years of school that was held in Bloom-ington. Bloom-ington. She then taught three years in the Woodward school, and she was also active in the auxiliary organizations of the church while residing here. Since leaving St. George Miss Roberts has been, and is still, a teacher in the Logan city schools. :; . Mrs. R.' E. Meldau and son, Donald Roy, of Pasadena, Calif., are visiting at the home of her sister, Mrs. Edgar R. Simpson. Mrs. Alfred Barlocker, who with her husband, has spent the winter here at the home ,of her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Niel-son, Niel-son, left Sunday evening to visit for a week at New Harmony with her brother, Gottlieb Schmutz and family. |
