Show Merit Badges Awarded To Scouts At Hurricane HURRICANE, Utah, April 11 Jack Woodbury, Jerome Gifford and Tell Gubler received merit badge awards in a Court of Honor held at Hurricane Sunday, April 10. The following boys from Troop 351 at Hurricane received Tenderfoot Tender-foot badges, which were presented by Court Commissioner Lafell Iverson: Ardeen Hinton, Kenyon Graff, Orville Wright, Arthur Crosby, Tommy Smith, Eldon Wright, Alden Black, Fenton Hirschi, Don Homer, Clare Naegle, Delmar Hinton and Jack Lemmon. Leonard Winder and Cleo Gifford Gif-ford of Troop 356 at Springdale also received Tenderfoot badges. Second Class awards were made to Gene Woodbury and Evan Duncan, Dun-can, of Troop 353 at LaVerkin; Robert Homer Rulon Woodbury, Duane Atkin and Merle Lemmon of Troop 351 of Hurricane; Richard Keller and Joseph Jackson Jack-son of Springdale Troop 356, by (Continued on page six) Court of Honor (Continued from first page) District Commissioner O v a n d o Guhler. Jack, Woodbury received the rank of Star Scout, while Tell Gubler and Jerome Gifford received re-ceived additional merit awards towards to-wards Eagle Scout rating. The two former being from Troop 351. the latter from Troop 356. The program consisted of a skit "The Missing Umbrella" from the Hurricane South ward scouts: a song. "There's a Gold Mine in the Sky", by Scouts Jack Woodbury and Golden Asay of LaVorkin: a skit "Worst Aid" Hurricane South. Following the Court of Honor. A. A. Anderson, chief executive, directed a training course for scouters. Wayne Hinton. district chairman, conducted and presided. The aim of the training course was to mobilize all of the Zion Park Council into a single unit to put over a Council Camporall. Navajo Lake seemed to be the choice of the parents for the location of the Camporall. June 17 to 20. The scouts voted for the Timpanogos camp but in view of the fact that the expense entailed of attending the camp on Timpanogos Timpan-ogos would bo much greater than the other they were enthusiastic in accepting the Navajo Lake location. lo-cation. A Camporee will be held at the Oak Grove Recreational camp above the Silver Reef mine on the south side of Pine Valley mountain on May 27. Glen Woodbury was elected by the parents as Council Camp Man and as chairman of the transportation transpor-tation committee. |
