Show Hurricane Holds Second Place Honors In Dixie Basketball HURRICANE, Utah Hurricane maintained second place in the league standings when it defeated Valley High at Orderville, Thursday, Thurs-day, Feb. 25, by the score of 47-40. The Valley team was an entirely different crew on their own floor from the lethargic five which played here the week before. be-fore. At that time they could do nothing with the Hurricane squad; but Thursday night they were dangerous all the way. The Hurricane Hur-ricane quintet turned in one of its best games of the season, otherwise other-wise they would have lost. Valley led off 7 to 9 at the end of the first quarter as Hurricane adjusted themselves to the smaller court. During the second period Wright, Sullivan and company un-limbered un-limbered their artillery to score 16 points while Valley was making 10. Result at the half, 23-19 for Hurricane. During the rest of the game the Tigers dominated the play. The third frame stood 33 to 25. During the 4th, Valley threw a scare into Hurricane by closing the gap to 4 points, but her rally fell short as Hurricane- took up her scoring activities once more. All of the Tigers scored, Sullivan Sulli-van led with 14 points, Wright had 12, Hinton 8, and Terry 7. As usual the foul pitching was weak, only 3 out of 10 tries being made. Valley did better with 6 out of 10. Jorgenson, Valley center, cen-ter, was high for the game with 17 counters. He threw them in from all angles. C. Hoyt, guard, was second for Valley with 9. These are two fine ball players. This week's game with Cedar City and Kanab, end the season for the Tigers. Altogether it has been a very successful run, although al-though there is disappointment at not taking one of the Dixie games. |
