Show Flood Conditions Exist As Rain Continues Water Laps Virgin Bridge As Flood Waters Rush From Drainage Area; Roads Open To Cars St George became storm-bound Wednesday night for the first time since the famous snow storms of last year. Rain, which has fallen intermitantly since last Sunday, came down in torrents last night to tear out the road above Pintura and to take out sections of the road west of St. George on 91 over the montain. Water in the Virgin river has reached the point where it is lapping lap-ping against the bridge and still more rain is coming down. Arthur Fawcett, official weather observer, reports that there has been 2.05 inches of rain during this storm, storm. Men are reported to have worked work-ed last night to save the dam at the Indian reservation. The Santa Clara creek was running so full that the water is said to have been going over the top of the dam and threatening to take it out. This storm is melting the snow on Pine Valley mountain with the consequence that the Santa Clara river is in a flood condition. While travel is stopped between here and Cedar on highway 91, traffic is being routed over 89, which is open. State Patrolman Marion Snow states that light trucks and cars are able to get through over the washed-out areas toward the west, but that heavy trucks and busses are being held up. A report coming to him indicated in-dicated that if no further damage dam-age is done, the road will be open for heavy traffic at about 4 p.m. (Continued on page eight) Storm (Continued from first page) today.
