Show Eleven Schools In County Participate In Red Cross Eleven schools in Washington county belong to the Junior Red Cross and participated in the exchanging ex-changing of presents with the Chinese children this year. As many as 31 boxes were sent from some of the schools in the county Miss Tillie Winsor, county supervisor, super-visor, reports. Word was sent from Red Cross headquarters in San Francisco that they hoped to have 5,000 boxes to send to the suffering Chinese children. Over 6,200 were received and forwarded to the Chinese. R. E. Gillette, director of Junior Red Cross, sent her compliments to the girls and boys of the county who participated. According to Miss Winsor she expressed appreciation ap-preciation of the fine quality of the gifts and assured the children that their efforts will mean many hours of happiness to a good many Chinese children. The schools which participated in the work are as follows: Rockville, all rooms; Virgin, one room; Hurricane, all rooms; To-querville, To-querville, all rooms; New Harmon, Har-mon, all rooms; Washington, one room; St. George, all rooms; Santa Clara, all rooms; Leeds, all rooms; Enterprise, two rooms. |
